How to Measure Wheel Bolt Pattern (PCD) & Wheel Size Guide

What Is a Bolt Pattern (PCD)?

The bolt pattern, also called PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter), describes how the lug holes are arranged on the wheel. It is written as two numbers, for example 5x114.3: the first number is the number of lug holes, the second is the diameter of the imaginary circle passing through the centers of all the holes, in millimeters.

How to Measure Your Bolt Pattern

The measuring method depends on the number of lugs:

4-Lug and 6-Lug Wheels

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the opposite lug hole. That distance, in millimeters, is your PCD. For example 4x100 means four holes on a 100 mm circle; 6x139.7 is common on pickup trucks.

5-Lug Wheels

There is no directly opposite lug, so measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the lug hole two positions away (skipping one), and divide the result by 1.7012. More simply: measure from the center of one hole to the farthest edge of the non-adjacent hole — the common values are 5x100, 5x112, 5x114.3, 5x120 and 5x120.7.
